Every morning, hope awakens us to the possibilities of the day. It gives us a foretaste of the little joys that await us. It gives us the courage to face challenges.
Our lives are filled with many hopes, big and small. But when the night seems endless, when no joys are in sight, when challenges seem insurmountable, then we need a very great hope.
For us believers, the birth of the Saviour is the source of this very great hope. Through his actions and words, Jesus revealed to us that God is nothing but tender, patient and merciful love. In his death and resurrection, he showed us that life is stronger than death. He breathed into us the very Spirit of God, the Spirit of light, strength and joy.
This Christmas, let us take up again our journey through life with a song on our lips and hope in our hearts. As Saint Augustine said, “Sing and walk!”
Yes, let us be pilgrims of hope! A blessed, merry Christmas to all!
