Funding for Social Action Projects: May 15, 2026

The Catholic Bishops of Quebec are concretely engaged in supporting social initiatives within local communities.

At the provincial level, the Secretariat of the Bishops administers a Social Action Project Funding Program to support initiatives that reflect the values of the Church: solidarity, justice, sharing (charity), respect for human dignity, the pursuit of the common good, and care for the environment. Each year, just over $100,000 is distributed to organizations that submit promising projects.

The next deadline to submit a funding application is May 15, 2026.

The funds available through this program come from the accumulated interest on donations made by various religious communities and dioceses of Quebec in the 1980s. All non-profit organizations are eligible to apply; it is not necessary to be a religious organization.

Projects are selected based on priority needs identified by the bishops:

  • Welcoming migrants or refugees;
  • Welcoming, supporting, and accompanying temporary workers;
  • Addressing the problem of violence;
  • Educating about the social dimensions of faith;
  • Advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples;
  • Encouraging social engagement at all ages; and
  • Caring for our Common Home (ecology).

The selection criteria are explained in detail in the funding application form (in French only):  formulaire de demande de financement..
