On 12 December, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Church in Canada celebrates the National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples...
Over the past year, a national conversation on the tragic history of residential schools in Canada has unfolded throughout our country. The Catholic Bishops of Canada are profoundly saddened by the residential school legacy and remain fully committed to working with Indigenous Peoples and communities across the country to support healing and reconciliation. We also sorrowfully acknowledge the historical and ongoing trauma and the legacy of suffering and challenges faced by Indigenous Peoples that continue to this day.
Ten years ago, on November 30, 2011, we gathered at St. Joseph's Cathedral to officially welcome our new Archbishop for the beginning of his pastoral ministry in our diocesan Church. Inspired by his episcopal motto, Sing and Walk, we learned to walk with him so that the Gospel of Christ might be proclaimed here in the Outaouais.
